A wall designed to quiet the room—and carry a story forward.

The material did more than improve the acoustics. It became the canvas.

When Elyse at RDLR reached out about acoustical treatment for the museum's training and auditorium space, Tectum was the immediate recommendation. Its minimal material palette, honest texture, and sustainability story felt naturally aligned with Gandhi's belief in leaving something good behind for a better tomorrow.

The design team wanted Gandhi's story illustrated across the room. Because imagery can be printed directly onto Tectum panels, the acoustic treatment could become the visual narrative rather than compete with it.

From recommendation to realization

A surface with purpose

An early plan explored printing the artwork through a local print shop. Bringing the process in-house ultimately created a smoother experience and a flawless result—preserving the imagery while allowing the wood fiber texture to remain visible.

Once installed, the difference was immediate. The added absorption made the room more comfortable for speech and training, while the finished mural left the museum team speechless.

Material in context

Sound, texture, and story

Close up, the texture remains unmistakably Tectum. From across the room, it reads as one continuous account of place, principle, and history.
