Frolic’s Castle
A playful ceiling with an acoustical purpose.
The ceiling joins the play.
Frolic’s Castle is a 3,000-square-foot soft-play area inside Memorial City Mall in Houston, Texas. Within the enchanted medieval forest, hanging Tectum® Clouds bring the playful theme into the ceiling.

Clouds that soften the sound
Frolic’s Castle has an open-structure ceiling, with the blue-painted deck, beams, and building services left exposed. The suspended Tectum® panels add a layer of sound absorption below that structure while keeping its open character visible.
Screams, laughs, and cries are part of a busy play space. Tectum® acoustical panels help absorb sound energy from those voices, reducing the reflected sound that can build up as it bounces around the room. Their textured surfaces bring an acoustical purpose to the cloud silhouettes.
Hanging these panels below the structure creates a more intimate ceiling plane. The floating clouds extend the imaginative world overhead, creating a softer, more inviting atmosphere for all halflings near and far.
